It is not necessary to overwrite multiple times on SSD. The "ghost tracks" from magnetic media simply do not exist on solid state storage. Even on modern magnetic media it is not a practical concern anymore because of enormous data densities. Now, what is a practical concern, is that with some SSD drives, there exists transparent methods to balance the writes over the media, as to wear out the memory evenly. This might cause the disk to actually write the new replacement bytes to a different place than intended. Nevertheless the allocation table will still be scrambled, so that the original inode does not point to the old block anymore.
